I'm happy to say that I've been painting a lot of dogs lately. As many of you, my dear readers, know - dogs have been a big part of my life. For MANY years I trained, traveled and showed my dogs in conformation, obedience, rally and (mostly) agility. So much fun! These days, I spend my doggy time loving on and going for long walk with my current constant canine companion, Phoebe.
I still have many friends and collectors that are dog lovers too in my life. A number of you (thank you!) have been asking me lately to do commissions of dogs for you. Every dog is unique and I've been hav...
I'm thrilled to share that my piece "Low Tide" won an award at this year's CCAL Juried Show. This is the first time I was brave enough to enter the Masters category (versus Amateur) so I wasn't expecting to receive an award this year. Love that the jurors felt it deserved this honor. Thank you to Chris Groves for selecting my art for this award! And, thank you to Jaime Bohnke with S&S Destination Trucky's for sponsoring the award!

It's been a very weird time to have art in a Juried Sh...
I’ve been working hard on a commission recently. It’s a surprise gift, so no photos until the recipient gets it.
That doesn’t mean nothing else has been happening though! I’ve been busy creating monotype paper prints for use in creating textured, layered background surfaces and digital reference prep for future paintings.
I’m thrilled to report that, in addition to the commission piece, several of my works have sold recently (“Saluda River View”, “Kiss of Color” and “What’s Up, Duck?”). It’s always exciting when someone falls in love with one of my pieces! Two of these have...
My dear friend, Judy, recently lost her older dog to cancer. Tivo was a big sweet goofy loving dog. He loved to come over and swim in the lake and he had some adorable Border Collie quirks. He will be missed. I decided I wanted to do something for her and as a tribute to him. So, of course, I painted him! His painting is now online!
Update: I'm very proud that out of hundreds of entrants, this piece won 3rd Place in the Amateur Division of the 2018 SC State Fair!
I'm happy to say that I've recently completed and posted several new works!
Must be my naturalist leanings - I've been on a plants and animals kick lately in my painting subjects. The Painted Bunting is the latest in my Colorful Birds series. I love these little guys. I think they must be the most colorful birds in our area and it's always exciting to see them.
This view of the Saluda River is one of the loveliest spots in Saluda Shoals Park I think. It's so peaceful to sit on the bench near this spot and just take it all in on a beautiful day like this one. This one is my biggest work yet at 1...
Very happy to have received a Merit Award at the 2018 Crooked Creek Art League Juried Show tonight for my piece "Lilac Breasted Roller". And, that the piece has been sold to a very excited new owner. A good day!!
All the winning artwork will be on display at Crooked Creek Park until April 16. There are some truly wonderful pieces this year!
I'm a big believer in the value to be gained by learning from other artists. As I embarked on my art journey, I was fortunate to find one of the best art leagues around is based out of Crooked Creek Park - just around the corner from us. It's been a real pleasure for me to serve as President for the league for the past two years. What a wonderful group of kind and talented people. I have learned so much from them and made many good friends.
Crooked Creek Art League holds a Juried Show and Sale each year. This year will be our 23rd Annual Show. All the artwork came in this weekend and...
Check it out! A collection of my art is now on display in a special exhibit at Palmetto Fine Arts in Chapin. This exhibit features many of my currently available works. It will be on display until March 1, 2018. Please consider stopping by to take a look if you are in the area.
