Measures and Milestones
“The measure of success is happiness and peace of mind."
~ Bobby Davro
January is always a good time to reflect on the past year, while planning for the year ahead. This year, January included a milestone birthday for me (gotta love those ending in zero). I find it inconceivable to have so many decades under my belt! Still, I'm grateful for each and every one of them. We were fortunate to be able to spend a great weekend in the mountains with friends to celebrate.
It has been another good year in my art journey as well. Here are a few fun statistics you might find interesting about the past year:

One of the largest local shows (the Crooked Creek Annual Juried Show) is coming up soon. Getting my artwork ready for this show has been consuming much of my recent painting time. All three paintings I will be entering this year in the show are now finished and drying (yay!). You can see the three paintings at the top of this post.
Mark your calendars for a great chance to get some wonderful small art. Artists for Africa is dedicated to enhancing the lives of children living in the most impoverished areas of Africa through arts programs and educational opportunities. Their annual charity auction of small "Postcard" size art pieces will be held on February 26 at the Hilton Garden Inn on Pickens Street in downtown Columbia. Each piece is 4x6 inches. This is a fun and worthwhile event. The two pieces shown in the video below are my contributions and will be included in the auction. I'm excited to be a part of this event and after meeting so many wonderful people in Kenya last year love the chance to give.
