Misty Morning at Morro Bay
“Some days your head is in the clouds.
Every now and then, the clouds come down to you to ignite your creativity."
I’m happy to share my latest painting. This is "Morro Bay".
I started out intending for this to be a small study for a larger piece. It will still serve that role for me, but I'm so happy with how it came out that it definitely stands as a painting on its own too. Morro Bay is in California midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Such a beautiful part of the world! Morro Bay is mostly known for Morro Rock, an ancient volcanic mound at the end of Morro Rock Beach. That big volcanic rock is not shown in this view though (it's off to the left).
This painting is based on a reference photo taken by my cousin Linda Jungers (a great amateur photographer) who was generous enough to give me permission to use it. Thanks Linda!
I still plan to do a larger version of this scene as well. This piece is 6x15 and it will be available for purchase after it finishes drying. The larger version will be 16x40. Here are a couple of progress videos of the larger version’s creation so far.
I will definitely share the final piece with you when it is finished my friends!
Until next time, I’ll be here in my studio working on new paintings for you to enjoy.
In other news...
From February 1 through March 31, select pieces of my artwork are on display in the Crooked Creek Art League Gallery at Palmetto Fine Arts in Chapin. I'm proud to be able to exhibit my art in this great local gallery.
The owner of the gallery, TC, is a great guy and wonderful supporter of the arts. He does great framing too. They’ve just moved to a new location at 140 Amicks Ferry Road in Chapin.
Check it out!
I’m still moving forward with some commission pieces and trying to get some artwork finished for the upcoming big annual juried show coming up in March.
Please help me share my art with more people!
